Manage a classroom and maintain behaviour

Deliver lesson instructions left by the teacher

Support students to complete set work

Take registers and follow school policies

Report back to teaching staff on student progress/behaviour

Skills & requirements (London secondary schools)

Most schools look for:

Experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, youth work, coaching, etc.)

Strong classroom management and communication skills

Confidence with students aged 11–16 (sometimes 11–18)

A degree (often preferred, not always essential)

Enhanced DBS check (usually arranged through the school or agency)
