Cover Supervisor (English Specialism) – Secondary School | Broxbourne, Hertfordshire

Are you an enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor with a passion for English and strong classroom management skills? Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join a fully inclusive 11–18 secondary academy in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, starting January 2026.

This full-time, temporary position is term-time only, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive and well-established secondary setting. The role focuses primarily on covering English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to support learners across a broad secondary age range, including students with Special Educational Needs.

Staff work together to create a calm, respectful learning environment where students are challenged, supported and encouraged to achieve their best. Professional development is a real priority, with ongoing training opportunities designed to help staff grow in confidence and expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering pre-planned English lessons in the absence of the class teacher

• Managing classroom behaviour effectively to ensure a focused learning environment

• Supporting students’ engagement, progress and wellbeing during lessons

• Upholding school policies, safeguarding procedures and high standards of conduct

• Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with secondary-aged students (school-based experience preferred)

• Be confident leading a classroom and maintaining positive behaviour

• Have a particular interest or strength in English

• Be calm, organised, reliable and adaptable

• Be passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people
