Job Title: Cost Accountant
Salary: £45,000
Location : Worcester
Robert Walters are supporting a leading business based in Worcester in their recruitment of a Cost Accountant on a permanent basis paying up to £45k.
Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant:
Provide timely and insightful performance reporting with commentary, covering key operational and financial metrics.
Develop, maintain and analyse standard costs for materials, labour and overheads, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production processes.
Lead variance analysis to understand cost deviations, trends and improvement opportunities.
Manage site capital expenditure (Capex) processes, ensuring accurate recording, capitalisation and disposal of assets.
Oversee ongoing inventory valuation, stock provision calculations and support cycle count accuracy.
Contribute to the annual budgeting process and conduct regular departmental expenditure reviews.
Support continuous improvement activities through financial evaluation of manufacturing processes and controls.
Assist with internal and external audit requirements and ensure compliance with relevant policies and accounting standards.
The successful candidate will have the following:
AAT qualified or CIMA part-qualified (or equivalent).
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
2-3 years' experience in a finance role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar environment.
Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and experience working with ERP systems.
Excellent analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
Confident communicator who can partner effectively with operational teams.
Knowledge of cost accounting principles.
Experience with standard costing, bill of materials (BOMs) and routing structures.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
