Job Description Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals. In Not-for-Profit Tax we pride ourselves on helping our clients achieve their strategic aims whilst maximising the tax exemptions available to them. We work with a diverse range of organisations: University Groups, Social Housing Groups, Registered Charities, Mutual Traders, Local Authorities and Local Authority Trading Companies, providing tax structuring, tax compliance and tax due diligence advice. The advice supports these organisations, representing some of the less privileged in society, to grow and deliver valuable services for the communities they represent. Given our large Social Housing and Local Authority client base, a large amount of our work is focused on real estate transactions: tax structuring on collaborative regeneration projects, mixed tenure development schemes, student housing and acquisitions/disposals arising from estate management projects. We advise on Capital Gains and Corporate Tax, working closely with colleagues in Stamp Taxes and VAT to ensure a holistic tax advice approach. A look into the role As an Associate Director within our Not-for-Profit Tax team you will:
Advising a broad range of Not‑for‑profit and Public Sector clients on a range of tax issues, covering compliance and advisory projects. Actively involved in client meetings, concisely and confidently answering client queries. Engender trust and respect from clients by producing high quality tax advice accurately, delivering on expectations and deadlines. Lead from the front to deliver client work, engaging with the wider Tax teams to ensure correct skill utilisation on all projects. Take responsibility for developing junior team members, understanding their career aspiration and supporting that delivery. Provide intelligent and creative solutions to client tax issues reactively and proactively, taking an active approach to cross‑selling wider solutions for other teams around the GT network. Drive pitch/proposals, actively growing the business by being present in the market and demonstrating our capabilities to clients and targets.
Knowing you’re right for us Joining us as an Associate Director in Not-for-Profit, the minimum criteria you’ll need:
ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified or equivalent qualification. UK corporate tax experience, ideally within Real Estate / Not‑for‑Profit / Public sector. Experience of monitoring junior team members' work and coaching / career development.
It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way:
Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation ideally within Real Estate / Not‑for‑Profit / Public sector. Reviewed work and supervised people in a tax environment. Experience working within a professional services environment. Experience of managing a large portfolio of tax clients. Demonstrable Business Development experience. An eagerness to develop deep knowledge of the firm’s services and capabilities.
