Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceWe are seeking an experienced Corporate & Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Underwriter to join a growing Credit function based in West London. This is a key role responsible for assessing, structuring, and managing a diverse portfolio of corporate, CRE, buy-to-let (BTL), and personal lending proposals.The RoleReporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer, you will play a pivotal role in underwriting and executing lending transactions, while ensuring robust risk management and regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite Corporate, CRE, personal, and BTL loan applications, ensuring effective execution of transactionsAssess and process lending proposals from the business team, including presenting cases to the Credit/Sanctioning CommitteeManage end-to-end credit processes, including liaising with clients, introducers, solicitors, and valuation firmsConduct annual reviews of the existing credit portfolio, ensuring compliance with covenants and lending termsMonitor loan portfolios, identifying early warning signs, arrears, or potential problem accounts, and make recommendationsWork closely with Originations teams to determine clear rationale for approving or declining applicationsPresent proposals to Risk and other internal committees for new and existing productsEnsure all credit decisions meet regulatory standards and align with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principlesSupport the Chief Credit Officer across broader Credit Department activitiesUndertake site visits where requiredKey Skills & Experience6-10 years' experience in credit underwriting or assessing lending proposalsStrong knowledge of the UK lending environment and regulatory frameworkExperience across Corporate and Commercial Real Estate lending (essential)Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong analytical and risk assessment skillsPerson ProfileAble to work independently and collaboratively within a teamStrong attention to detail with a diligent and methodical approachConfident communicator with the ability to present complex information clearlyCommercially aware, with the ability to balance risk and business objectivesProactive, adaptable, and motivated to take on new challengesKey Stakeholder InteractionSenior leadership including Chief Credit Officer, Chief Banking Officer, and CEOBusiness Development teams, Relationship Officers, and Branch NetworkCredit Committees and internal product and administration teamsJBRP1_UKTJ
