Allen Lane are supporting a local authority in their recruitment for a Conveyancing Assistant to support their Legal Services team. The role involves providing administrative and legal support on a wide range of property matters, including residential and commercial conveyancing, leases, licences, right‑to‑buy transactions, land charges, and general property enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist solicitors and legal officers with the preparation, drafting, and processing of conveyancing documents.
  • Manage case files, maintain accurate records, and handle routine correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research, organise searches, and coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Support the progression of property transactions from instruction to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with local government procedures, statutory requirements, and corporate governance standards.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in local government or a similar public sector legal environment.
  • Understanding of local authority property processes, land law, and conveyancing procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


Initial 3-month contract
