Control Panel BuilderLocation:LeedsJob Type:Full TimeWorking hours:7:30 am 4:00 pm (Monday Thursday), 7:30 am 3:00 pm (Friday)Salary:Up to £40,000 DOEOur client is a Leeds-based specialist in control panel design, manufacturing, and building management systems, with over 25 years of industry experience.They provide a full end-to-end service, including design, in-house panel build, system engineering, installation, and ongoing maintenance across commercial, industrial, and public sector projects.They are known for delivering high-quality, bespoke control solutions and have built a strong reputation for long-term client relationships and consistent project delivery.Whats In It For You25 days holiday + Bank holidays (Christmas shutdown)Overtime opportunities available during the week and weekends when workload permitsRequirementsEssentialPrevious experience in control panel building or electrical assemblyStrong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagramsKnowledge of electrical panel wiring techniques and componentsUnderstanding of European wiring standards (e.g., BS EN 60204-1)Quality-focused with strong attention to detail and pride in workmanshipReliable, punctual, and highly organisedStrong communication skills and ability to work as part of a teamAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesDesirableExperience working with industrial automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, safety relays)Familiarity with UL508A standardsECS/CSCS card or relevant site safety certificationBackground in machine building or system integrationNVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering, or equivalentThe RoleBuild, wire, and test electrical control panels to required industry standards, engineering drawings, and customer specificationsAssemble electrical control panels based on engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawingsCarry out wiring, cable routing, and termination of components, including PLCs, relays, contactors, VSDs, switches, and power suppliesDrill, tap, cut, and prepare backplates and enclosuresEnsure all work complies with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, BS EN, UL, and company quality procedures)Perform functional testing, continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, and panel verification before shipmentIdentify and report any design or component issues affecting build quality or deliveryMaintain a clean, safe, and organised working environmentCollaborate with design engineers to resolve wiring or layout queriesComplete documentation such as build checklists, test reports, and quality recordsEnsure safe working practices, including correct use of tools and PPEWhats next?
