We’re supporting a well-established operator in the energy sector who are looking to appoint a Control & Instrumentation Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving site-wide control and safety systems. This Control & Instrumentation Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on a mix of day-to-day operational support and technically challenging project work, giving you real influence over plant performance, safety, and reliability.

\n\nThe Role – Control & Instrumentation Engineer\n
As a Control & Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of process control systems and safety systems across site.
\n
Key responsibilities include:
\n
\n Identifying and delivering plant improvement projects, including developing scopes and schedules \n
Designing and implementing process control systems and safety systems as part of capital projects \n
Monitoring and supporting CAPEX & OPEX budgets for C&I activities \n
Taking ownership of smaller C&I projects from concept through to completion \n
Acting as Lead Engineer for functional safety, including development and ongoing support \n
Reviewing and improving Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to ensure compliance with international standards \n
Producing key documentation such as: \n SIL verification documents \n
Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) \n
SIL calculations using specialist software \n

\n
Specifying, testing and commissioning control system and SIS upgrades \n
Ensuring compliance with hazardous area regulations for instrumentation design and installation \n
Supporting operations through fault finding, root cause analysis and system improvements \n
Providing technical support across site-wide systems, including communications and remote access \n
Leading and supporting C&I Technicians \n
Maintaining full compliance with statutory, legislative and regulatory requirements \n
Supporting updates to the Safety Management System in line with legislative changes \n
\n\nAbout You\n
To be successful in this Control & Instrumentation Engineer role, you will have experience within a process, energy, or industrial environment and a strong understanding of control systems and functional safety.
\n
You will ideally have:
\n
\n HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline \n
Experience working towards professional registration \n
Knowledge of control & instrumentation design standards \n
Experience working within plant operations environments \n
Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis capability \n
Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) \n
Knowledge of: \n IEC 61508 \n
IEC 61511 \n
BS EN 60079 \n
\n
\n
Experience with PLC software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project \n
