Consultant Physicist (Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics) We are seeking an experienced Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics to provide senior scientific leadership and strategic direction for Nuclear Medicine Physics. This is a key leadership role within Medical Physics and the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the shaping of the future of the service. This is a particularly exciting time to join us as we are about to commission a brand new radiopharmacy, and develop MRT dosimetry. You should have proven scientific and leadership skills as you will be responsible for the strategic direction, development and day to day delivery of the nuclear medicine physics service. You must have Medical Physics Expert certification in nuclear medicine with extensive experience across a range of imaging and MRT applications. You should have senior level experience able to provide highly specialist advice to the Trust together with excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, managerial and external stakeholders. Your key responsibilities willbe to manage staff and resources within nuclear medicine physics, to ensure that nuclear medicine procedures are delivered accurately and safely. We are a supportive department and have a strong track record of supporting managerial and leadership development training It is also desirable that you should be a certificated (or working towards) Radiation Protection Adviser. Main duties of the job You will oversee and lead the nuclear medicine physics service which is part of a multi disciplinary team (including Oncology and Radiology). The physics service provides support to the Trusts gamma camera which is operated by the Radiology Department. The service also provides support to the nuclear imaging service at Walsall Manor Trust which also has on gamma camera.The nuclear medicine section of medical physics directly manages the molecular radiotherapy physics services (including I-131 and Ra-223), a number of diagnostic non-imaging procedures and radiopharmacy services.The post is responsible to the head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering , and you will be responsible for strategic service development , leadership of the section, manage the budget allocation for pay and non-pay of the section, manage radiation protection within the section. Holds valid HCPC registration Relevant first degree and MSc in radiation physics PhD or equivalent evidence of research training Holds valid RPA certification or working towards certification. Diploma level or equivalent in management

Extensive relevant experience in nuclear medicine physics Proven managerial and leadership skills Expert understanding of relevant UK ionising radiation legislation Broad knowledge of radiation and associated areas in Medical Physics
