Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities As a Consultant Obstetrician at Princess Anne, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team—midwives, neonatologists, anaesthetists and other healthcare professionals—to deliver individualised, evidence-based care. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless coordination among specialties, fostering a patient-centred approach to provide holistic care. Your expertise will extend to developing and implementing clinical protocols and guidelines, driving quality improvement initiatives, and providing education and mentoring to junior staff within the unit. Person Specification Qualifications, Training & Experience Essential Criteria:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification GMC registration with a licence to practise MRCOG Certificate of completion of training (CCT) or equivalent achieved or due to be achieved within 6 months of interview Completion of Advanced Labour Ward Practice ATSM or equivalent Appropriate knowledge base, and capability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems Demonstration of excellence in clinical practice within Obstetrics Significant evidence of continued professional development
Desirable Criteria:
MSc, MD, PhD, or master’s in education or related discipline Completion of other relevant ATSM / SITM or equivalent Evidence of running high risk antenatal clinics Attendance at courses/conferences Experience of working as a consultant
Aptitudes and Skills Essential Criteria:
Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams Understanding of equality and diversity and its impact on patients, visitors and staff Evidence and ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English) Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Evidence of participation in clinical governance processes and leadership of change initiatives Ability to provide leadership in service provision and development
