West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital wishes to appoint a Consultant Neurophysiologist to be part of the Neurology department, which includes ten Consultant Neurologists and one Consultant Neurophysiologist with joint appointments in regional Neuroscience units. Neurophysiology outpatient clinics are held on two sites (Hemel and Watford). Responsibilities:

Direct Clinical CarePerform nerve conduction studies, electromyography, repetitive nerve stimulation, sympathetic skin response, cutaneous silent period, single‑fiber EMG, neuro‑muscular ultrasound, evoked potentials (SSEPs, BAEPs, VEPs – currently not available due to lack of equipment), thermal thresholds testing (QST – not currently available), central motor conduction studies, movement disorder neurophysiology and EEG. Professional DevelopmentAll Consultants receive one core clinical activity session (SPA) per week for CPD, appraisal, mandatory training, and attend regular team meetings which include a clinical governance component and audit participation.

Qualifications:

Previous appointments or professional training in neurology/neurophysiology, approved by the Royal College of Physicians (SCE in Neurology). MRCP(UK) or equivalent. MBBS or equivalent. GMC registration with licence to practice or membership on the Specialist Register in Neurophysiology (or within six months of interview date).
