Job Summary

We are recruiting a full‑time Consultant Cardiologist for our expanding Heart Failure Service. The role will support heart failure clinics, ward rounds, breathlessness clinics, the Acute Medicine department and work across two trust sites – Coventry and Rugby – and the City of Coventry Community.

The incumbent will also be involved in a thriving programme of clinical and basic research, collaborate with Warwick Medical School and contribute to teaching and examination of medical students.

Responsibilities

• Attend and lead two weekly heart failure or breathlessness outpatient clinics, seeing 8 new or 10 follow‑up patients per clinic, with up to two urgent patients as required.
• Support development of a new breathlessness clinic and participate in the additional outpatient heart‑failure clinic.
• Conduct one weekly catheter laboratory session, performing cardiac catheterisation (right‑ and left‑heart studies) and myocardial biopsies; optional participation in device implantation.
• Lead heart‑failure MDTs and perform cardiac catheterisations in weekly lab sessions.
• Engage in teaching, research, audit, and clinical governance activities in partnership with Warwick Medical School.
• Attend and complete UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) training programmes, including Lean for Leaders, Advanced Lean Training and the Human Factors Programme.

Qualifications & Experience

• Fully qualified Consultant Cardiologist with UK registration.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in heart failure and cardiology services.
• Experience in outpatient clinic management and catheter laboratory procedures.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and teaching.
