Overview M4 Recruitment is seeking an experienced and skilled Compressed Air Pipe Fitter to join a well-established industrial engineering team. This role is suited to an individual with strong hands-on expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing high-pressure pipework systems for compressed air and industrial gases. Candidates must be technically competent, safety-focused, and capable of interpreting detailed engineering specifications.
Job Summary As a Compressed Air Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of industrial pipework systems used to transport compressed air, nitrogen, and other gases. You will work from engineering drawings and project specifications, ensuring all installations are safe, compliant, and completed to high standards. This position requires extensive practical experience, strong diagnostic capabilities, and a commitment to precision and safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities Install and fabricate aluminium, copper, stainless steel, and threaded steel pipework systems

Interpret engineering blueprints , schematics, and technical drawings

Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to exact specifications using relevant tools

Perform welding, brazing, soldering , and use mechanical connectors to securely join pipework

Install pipe supports, hangers, and clamps to ensure safe and stable systems

Complete pressure, leak, and system functionality tests on new and repaired systems

Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on existing compressed air/gas pipe systems

Diagnose and troubleshoot faults , replacing components or carrying out repairs as required

Provide on-site supervision , coordinating with other trades and supporting junior pipe fitters

Ensure strict adherence to EHS regulations , PPE usage, and safe working practices

Required Skills & Qualifications 45 years experience as a pipe fitter, specifically with compressed air systems in industrial or commercial environments

Strong technical knowledge of piping materials, joining techniques , and industry standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA)

Proven blueprint reading ability

Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills

Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy components, climb, and work in confined/elevated spaces

Valid driving licence (essential due to travel to multiple sites)

Relevant welding certifications (TIG, MIG) beneficial or required depending on projects

Additional certifications such as CSCS SkillCard, IPAF (MEWP), PASMA advantageous

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently or as part of a team
