Role Description:
Based in our City office, our Compliance department prides itself on being able to offer support, guidance, and training internally throughout the Firm as well as assistance to the firm’s clients.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience within risk and compliance within a law firm, although we will consider individuals with risk and compliance experience in non-law firm settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the risk and compliance function across the firm
- Take responsibility for administration of communications around client complaints, undertake initial investigations, drafting complaint responses
- Take responsibility for maintaining the firm’s registers and records of complaints and other internal registers
- Completing initial and ongoing DBS checks for staff
- Assist with preparation and undertaking of internal and external periodical audits
- Liaison with clients and fee earners to resolve issues that may arise during a transaction
- Act as an initial point of contact for fee earners compliance and AML queries
- Assist with the collation of data for the firm’s annual bulk renewal of practising certificates submission to the SRA
- Assist with drafting SRA application forms and with maintaining records
- Assisting with collation of data for cyber insurance, and professional indemnity insurance
- Assist with internal and external data requests
- Willing to travel to firm’s other offices occasionally and flexible to work longer hours as required
Skills and qualifications:
- Strong academics, likely degree level.
- Experience in a compliance, law firm or regulatory environment
- Proficient with MS Office
- Ability to liaise confidently with colleagues, partners, and clients
- Strong research and analysis skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Methodical, and able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Providing effective support for partners
