Job Description
Compliance Oversight and Assurance Manager
• Development of the annual Compliance Oversight & Assurance Monitoring Plan covering key compliance risks;
• Delivery of the annual Compliance Oversight and Assurance Monitoring Plan and managing resources to deliver as part of the annual and longer term Compliance Plan;
• Reporting of key findings from business transaction data on compliance controls and breaches to the Head of Compliance;
• Bring an innovative approach to the collection, design and preparation of reports/MI on the performance and findings of Compliance Oversight & Assurance for committees and boards, external stakeholders and others;
• Responsible for monthly reports to the Head of Compliance and quarterly reports to the Executive Committee;
• Manage special investigations/ad hoc oversight activity as required by the Head of Compliance;
• Identify, report, record, analyse and escalate incidents and breaches including commentary on root cause;
• Track outcomes from thematic and ad-hoc reviews to conclusion;
• Managing the Compliance O&A Framework and ensuring process documents are reviewed annually;
• Maintain an awareness of relevant changes to the regulatory environment both UK and abroad, ensuring that the Oversight & Assurance framework reflects best practice;
• Highlighting training needs to the Head of Compliance and ensuring targeted training is put in place where necessary;
• Act as the primary point of contact for other assurance functions (Risk, Internal Audit and Internal Controls) regarding Compliance risks and controls;
• Supporting the Head of Compliance by challenging and acting as a sounding board;
• Provision of appropriately rigorous oversight activity in line with best practice standards to offer clear and relevant assurance to management and the Boards;
• Responsibility for and line management of the Compliance Oversight & Assurance team;
• Managing a small team, communicating relevant and appropriate information, facilitating collaboration with other teams and departments, embracing diversity, and managing inclusively, proactively supporting the development of careers as well as providing feedback on performance;
• Supporting the career development of direct reports through appropriate coaching and mentoring;
• To be aware of and comply with the conduct rules as set out by the PRA & FCA Standards of Conduct;
• To be aware of and comply with the relevant rules, regulations and requirements laid down by any relevant regulatory, statutory and / or supervisory bodies or authorities in which the company is registered, trades and/or operates;
You MUST Have
• Min 5 years experience working within Insurance/London Market as a compliance manager with specific skills in Oversight and assurance;
• Experience in people management and development.
• Excellent organisational, written and verbal skills including interpreting complex regulatory requirements;
• Relevant professional qualifications at a minimum of degree level;
• Significant understanding of specific insurance industry matters including trade and economic sanctions, AML, fraud, ABC, Lloyd’s licences and anti competitive behaviour
