Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Are you a kind and compassionate teaching assistant with experience supporting complex needs? We are currently recruiting for teaching assistants to join a welcoming SEN school in the Rochdale area. The school supports pupils aged 4-11 with PMLD.

This role is ideal for someone with a care background, offering hands-on support to students with complex needs. The successful candidate will provide personal care, assist with learning activities, and contribute to a nurturing and inclusive environment. Immediate start available.

Position: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (PMLD)

Location: Rochdale

Contract Type: Full Time, Term-time only

Daily Rate: £105.00 - £120.00

Working Hours: 08:30 - 15:30

Start Date: April 2026

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (including hoisting, where required)
Support students with communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology
Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary teamCandidate Requirements:

Experience working with individuals with PMLD or complex needs
Background in care or similar support roles highly desirable
Patient, empathetic, and confident in providing personal care and tailored support
Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team To be eligible you must:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
* Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
