Interim Commissioning Project Manager – North London – £400 per day (Umbrella)

A North London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Interim Commissioning Project Manager to join its Children’s Services Directorate on a temporary basis. This is a critical role within the Commissioning Team, leading strategic transformation work aligned to the Safety Valve Programme, with a focus on improving outcomes for Pre-16 and Post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

You will lead on the design and delivery of innovative commissioning strategies that support the development of sustainable, needs-led local services. The aim is to reduce reliance on high-cost external placements while ensuring quality, consistency, and value for money.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage key commissioning projects to improve services for children and young people with SEND. Develop commissioning solutions that support early intervention, local sufficiency, and improved preparation for adulthood. Oversee the implementation of frameworks and provider agreements to ensure consistent standards and cost control. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive strategic planning and influence service transformation. Monitor and evaluate commissioned services against performance indicators and agreed outcomes.
