The Casual Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the required standards. The role involves maintaining high levels of hygiene, assisting senior chefs, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as directed by senior kitchen staff
Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas in line with food safety and hygiene regulations
Ensure food is stored, handled, and labelled correctly
Support the kitchen team during service periods to ensure timely delivery of dishes
Comply with all health and safety, food hygiene, and company policies
Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and basic stock control as required
Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef
Skills and Experience Previous kitchen experience preferred
Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and time-management skills
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Personal Attributes Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Able to follow instructions and take direction
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Health & Safety Adhere to all food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
