About the Role

The Commercial Support Officer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of commercial and procurement and activity within the People' Category team which procures a range of commissioned services for citizens, including Adults and Children's Social Care, Public Health, Community Services and Homelessness services. They may also provide support to the wider Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management team to deliver an effective procurement function.

Our procurement service focuses on improving quality, maximising savings, spending locally and creating employment opportunities. The Commercial Support Officer will support all aspects of the tender process from preparation of tender documentation and advertisement through to contract award, ensuring compliance with the Council's Financial Regulations and UK procurement legislation. In particular they will support with the management of a range of procurement related information including the assessment of current spend, recording and reporting on procurement activity and outcomes. They will work closely with category team members and clients across the Council and will engage with external agencies and suppliers.
