Oliver Valves is looking for an experienced and ambitious Commercial Manager to lead a key part of our sales operation.


This is a senior role within a successful, fast-paced engineering business supplying high-performance valve solutions to major offshore energy projects around the world. It offers the opportunity to take ownership of a substantial commercial function, lead an established team, and play a major part in the next stage of the company’s growth.


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the team handling incoming enquiries, preparing technical and commercial quotations, supporting complex bid activity, and overseeing the smooth conversion of opportunities into orders in line with company terms and conditions.


This role will suit someone who is already operating in a similar environment and is ready to take the next step in their career. We are looking for a strong commercial leader with the presence, judgement and drive to develop toward director level over time.


You will work closely with sales, engineering, purchasing and production, helping to ensure that major bids and customer opportunities are handled efficiently, accurately and commercially.


Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the commercial sales / quotations team
  • Oversee the preparation of technical and commercial quotations
  • Support and manage bids for large project packages
  • Drive timely and commercially sound responses to customer enquiries
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, purchasing and production
  • Help shape commercial strategy and improve internal processes
  • Ensure orders are accepted in line with company terms and conditions


About you:

  • Proven experience in a commercial, quotations, proposals or sales management role within engineering or manufacturing
  • Comfortable handling large packages and complex bid activity
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and motivating a team
  • Commercially astute, organised and confident working across departments
  • Mechanical engineering background, ideally from a valve or flow control environment
  • Ambitious, credible and keen to progress toward director level
