Commercial Contracts Manager

Bramford, Suffolk (Nr Ipswich) | £55,000 - £65,000


If you’re the person who ends up fixing contracts after they’ve already gone wrong, this will feel familiar.


Late changes. Unclear terms. Commercial risk being picked up too late. This role is about getting ahead of that.


They’re a specialist engineering business working across power generation, supporting projects that range from defence through to critical infrastructure. Proper engineering environment. Complex work. Real consequence if contracts aren’t right.


They need someone to take control of the commercial side.


Not just reviewing contracts. Owning how they’re structured, negotiated, and managed from bid through to delivery.


You’ll sit close to leadership and work across sales, finance and operations. You’ll be the person people go to when something doesn’t look right commercially.


What’s different here is the scope.


You’re not inheriting a polished, fully embedded commercial function. There’s room to shape process, influence decisions, and tighten how contracts are handled across the business.


Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Leading contract negotiations on complex engineering projects
  • Owning the full route-to-contract process
  • Managing risk, compliance, and commercial governance
  • Supporting bids and making sure commercial terms actually stack up
  • Acting as the link between commercial, legal, and operational teams


The environment is varied. Defence, infrastructure, public sector. No two contracts look the same.


They’re looking for someone who:

  • Has real experience managing and negotiating contracts end-to-end
  • Is comfortable working in engineering, manufacturing, or technical environments
  • Can spot risk early and deal with it properly
  • Doesn’t need hand-holding and can operate with senior stakeholders
  • Ideally understands power, energy, or regulated project environments


Salary is £55,000-£65,000, with flexibility on contract type if needed.

Based near Ipswich, Suffolk.
