Commercial Finance Manager

Our client in the property development/ real estate industry are looking for a new Commercial Finance Manager to join their growing team in London. This is an exciting position, reporting into a Head of Commercial Finance, where you will lead and take ownership across budgeting and forecasting processes, partnering with operational teams, as well as training and mentoring a team of juniors.


Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to senior stakeholders across asset management, development, operations and commercial teams
  • Provide robust financial analysis, insight and challenge to support operational and strategic decisions
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, asset performance, development viability and capital expenditure proposals
  • Support negotiations on leases, rent reviews, disposals, acquisitions and joint ventures
  • Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning for assigned portfolios or business units
  • Prepare and present monthly management information, performance dashboards and variance analysis
  • Identify risks and opportunities, proactively recommending actions to enhance returns and mitigate downside
  • Develop and maintain financial models, including cash flow forecasting, IRR, NPV and sensitivity analysis
  • Strong understanding of property P&Ls, service charge structures, recoverability and margin analysis
  • Monitor asset-level performance, including occupancy rates, yield, net operating income and operating costs
  • Partner with asset managers to drive performance improvements and maximise asset value
  • Present clear, commercially focused insights to senior management and investment committees
  • Challenge non-finance stakeholders constructively, providing alternative scenarios and recommendations
  • Mentor and develop junior finance team members, where applicable
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, systems and controls


Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Significant post‑qualification experience in a commercial finance role, ideally within property or real estate
  • Strong understanding of property economics, asset performance and value drivers
  • Advanced financial modelling skills with strong Excel capability
  • Proven ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Commercial mindset with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills

Desirable

  • Experience within large, complex or multi‑asset property portfolios
  • Exposure to development appraisals, investment analysis or capital projects
  • Experience working with senior leadership, investors or boards
  • Knowledge of real estate-specific reporting metrics and KPIs
