Our client is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Commercial Director to lead growth and strengthen their position as one of the UK's leading building services and sustainability design consultancies.

The Role
This senior leadership role is focused on driving revenue growth, profitability, and client value. The successful candidate will leverage their network of developers, contractors, architects, and end-user clients in London to generate £1m+ additional annual revenue, with a proven track record of winning fees of £750k+ in building services or closely related sectors.

You will work alongside Regional Directors and the Marketing & Communications Lead, focusing on business development, establishing your own client base, and supporting the wider office. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, fostering long-term client relationships across public and private sectors. The position includes P&L responsibility and the opportunity to drive organic growth, including through new client acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a clear commercial strategy aligned with growth objectives
* Identify and secure new business opportunities in building services and sustainability consultancy
* Lead key client relationships as a senior point of contact for strategic accounts
* Oversee pricing, bids, and contract negotiations to maximise profitability
* Support and mentor business development teams to improve performance and win rates
* Collaborate across technical, operational, and sustainability teams to align offerings with market demand
* Champion sustainability, low-carbon solutions, and innovation in areas such as energy modelling, decarbonisation, and ESG advisory
* Promote a high-performance culture, accountability, and cross-office collaboration

Candidate Profile

* Extensive senior management experience in building services, sustainability, or related consultancy
* Degree qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline Chartered status preferred
* Proven track record in delivering revenue growth and securing high-value projects (£750k+)
* Strong commercial acumen and leadership capability, with experience motivating and developing teams
* Analytical, strategic, and solutions-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Energetic, resilient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
* Hands-on, capable of implementing robust business development strategies and improving operational performance

Additional Responsibilities

* Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives for the London office
* Support recruitment, team development, and succession planning
* Ensure commercial and technical oversight on projects, maintaining high-quality delivery
* Represent the business externally at networking and industry events
* Uphold company policies, governance, and quality assurance standards
