Commercial Counsel We are seeking a Commercial Counsel to join our Commercial Legal team based in Ellesmere Port. Innospec is a global specialty chemicals company focused on bringing innovative new technologies to market combined with a fast and responsive service. We serve a range of industries across the world, bringing our products to customers in markets from oilfields, fuels, refineries and power stations to personal care and performance chemicals. Our global team of approximately 2,000 employees spans 24 countries, applying their extensive experience and market understanding to customers’ local needs. Integrating our global footprint with local service capability enables us to supply quality products that meet and anticipate changing market dynamics. As Innospec has offices, branches, agents and distributors worldwide, although the Commercial Legal department is based in Ellesmere Port, this is an international role with the requirement to support the business globally. Innospec is a sales‑led organisation and therefore there is a great deal of liaison with Sales and Purchasing Managers. We are seeking a lawyer who can maintain existing fantastic internal business relationships whilst providing expert advice to our internal global client groups. Benefits

Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day legal advice on all matters affecting all business divisions in EMEA and ASPAC. Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements across EMEA and ASPAC including supply, purchase, agency, distribution, collaborations, confidentiality, consultancy, tenders, leases and internal agreements. Build strong relationships with internal contacts at all levels within all business divisions in order to understand the business requirements and develop an approach that is commercially supportive, as well as legally compliant. Provide ad‑hoc legal support to other corporate functions as required e.g. HR, IT, Tax, Corporate (including occasional support on group restructuring and acquisitions). Provide training to business teams in respect of pertinent and relevant commercial legal matters. Take all reasonable steps to ensure that all activity is in line with the business’ compliance requirements.
Requirements
Ideally a commercial lawyer with at least 1 year’s PQE but being commercially minded and having the right attitude and enthusiasm in a small, busy team is key. A good knowledge of contractual and commercial legal matters and a basic knowledge of IP matters and compliance legislation. Confidently able to work under own initiative, independently and to interact with people at all levels across a variety of business areas. Ability to identify, analyse and assess key legal issues relevant to the business and to provide advice in a commercially practical way. In‑house experience working as part of a global organisation would be advantageous but is not essential.
