Job Description
Account Manager\n£32,000\nPeterborough\nRole Overview\nWe are looking for an experienced Account Manager to take ownership of growing sales in a controlled and sustainable way. The role focuses on developing new business, growing existing customer accounts, and promoting the full Ideal Power product portfolio.\nWorking closely with the Sales Manager, you will identify and convert sales opportunities, support agreed sales strategies and targets and build long-term customer relationships. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable working in a small business environment, following established processes, and taking responsibility for delivering results.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Sell the full product portfolio, including standard components and solution-based offerings\n * Grow existing customer accounts in line with agreed KPIs and sales targets\n * Develop new business opportunities within defined target customers and sectors\n * Build a strong technical and commercial understanding of all products and services\n * Identify customer requirements and propose appropriate power supply solutions\n * Work closely with internal colleagues to deliver clear, joined-up customer outcomes\n * Attend relevant trade shows, exhibitions, customer visits, and training activities\n * Use the CRM to manage opportunities, forecast sales, and report on progress\n * Manage opportunities through to successful conclusion within agreed timescales\nResponsibilities may evolve as the business grows.\nSkills & Experience\nEssential:\n * Proven experience in a sales or account management role\n * Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets\n * Ability to manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification to close\n * Strong commercial awareness with a structured sales approach\n * Clear, confident communication and presentation skills\n * Comfortable working independently within a small team environment\nDesirable:\n * Engineering or technology background (HNC, Degree, or equivalent)\n * Experience selling technical or component-based products\nRole Expectations & Working Arrangements\nYou will be organised, commercially focused, and comfortable managing your own workload.
The role requires someone who follows systems, keeps accurate records, and takes responsibility for outcomes. You will represent professionally with customers and suppliers and take a clear, straightforward approach to account management.\nThis is a full-time, office-based role in Peterborough. A full UK driving licence is required, with use of a personal vehicle for business travel.
Business mileage is reimbursed at £0.45 per mile.\nHoliday & Benefits\n * Sales bonus and commission eligibility after six months’ service\n * 24 days holiday per year (3 reserved for Christmas/New Year closure) plus bank holidays\n * Holiday entitlement increases by one day per completed calendar year, up to 28 days\n * Workplace pension
