About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tutor / Teaching Practitioner to support our mission of delivering a high-quality, autism-specific educational experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling students to maximise their potential for future life, wellbeing and work.
You will be a member of a supportive teaching team, working closely with the Centre Coordinator to ensure the smooth daily running of the centre, the effective delivery of an autism-informed curriculum, and positive outcomes for our learners.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver planned, coordinated and high-quality teaching and learning sessions tailored to autistic learners
Ensure curriculum content is autism-specific, personalised and informed by students’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Maintain accurate educational records including session plans, schemes of work, assessments and learning progress in line with school systems
Monitor, assess and evaluate learner progress using initial, formative and summative assessment
Embed Literacy, Numeracy and ICT within teaching where appropriate
Prepare student reports and contribute to reviews for internal and external stakeholders, including Local Authorities
Support pastoral care and student wellbeing as directed by the Centre Coordinator
Contribute to enrichment activities, work placement support and transition planning
Participate in recruitment, assessment and review of students
Liaise with partner schools, FE colleges and external agencies
Take part in marketing activities such as Open Days and events
Engage in continuous professional development and keep up to date with subject and sector developments
Comply with all school policies including safeguarding, equality and diversity, GDPR, health & safety and confidentiality
What We’re Looking For
Experience of teaching or supporting learning, ideally within SEND or autism-specific education
Understanding of EHCPs, non-accredited learning and RARPA (or willingness to develop this knowledge)
Strong organisational, communication and record-keeping skills
A commitment to inclusive practice, equality and diversity
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Willingness to take responsibility for curriculum development, pastoral duties and administrative tasks
A proactive approach to professional development and reflective practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
