CNC Setter / Operator Sliding Head (Multi-Axis Turning)

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a precision engineering environment specialising in metal machining and high-tolerance components. This is a hands-on role working with multi-axis CNC sliding head machines (Citizen/Swiss-type).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full machine setup including tooling, fixtures, and datum setting
  • Operating multi-axis CNC turning / sliding head lathes
  • Editing G-code (Fanuc preferred) and adjusting offsets
  • Performing first-off inspection and in-process quality checks
  • Using micrometers, verniers, calipers to ensure tight tolerances
  • Optimising speeds, feeds, and cycle times
  • Maintaining production output, quality, and safety standards

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Setter / Operator / CNC Turner
  • Strong background in turning (NOT milling)
  • Experience with sliding head / Swiss-type CNC machines
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Experience with G-code / Fanuc controls
  • Confident using precision measuring equipment
  • Experience working with metal components in a manufacturing environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with Citizen or Star sliding head machines
  • CNC grinding exposure
  • Background in precision engineering / aerospace / automotive
