This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in programming Siemens-controlled CNC milling machines, seeking a long-term and stable position in a professional and forward-thinking manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the accurate production of high-specification components for various critical industries.
Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Hourly Rate: £20.00
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 & Friday 07:00 - 12:00
This is a hands-on, workshop-based role, well suited to an individual confident in on-machine programming and committed to delivering precision-engineered components. The post-holder will be responsible for setting, programming, and operating CNC milling machines, working from detailed technical drawings and adhering to strict tolerances.
You will also be required to carry out in-process and final quality checks, monitor tooling, and ensure all work is completed in line with company health, safety, and quality procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Programme CNC milling machines using Siemens controls directly at the machine * Independently set up jobs, including tooling, work offsets, and coordinate systems * Interpret and work from detailed engineering and technical drawings * Machine precision components to specified tolerances and finishes * Perform accurate quality checks using micrometres, verniers, height gauges, and other manual inspection equipment * Monitor tooling condition and make adjustments or replacements as needed * Maintain an organised and safe working environment in line with company policies * Collaborate with colleagues across shifts to ensure effective communication and workflow * Adapt to changing workloads and assist with other machining operations as required
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience operating and programming Siemens-controlled CNC milling machines * Confident on-machine programming using the Siemens ShopMill interface or equivalent * Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and material specifications * Skilled in using a wide range of manual measuring equipment * Able to work independently with minimal supervision * High attention to detail and a quality-focused approach to production * Flexible and reliable, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines * Willingness to work occasional weekends and to liaise with alternate shifts as required
Desirable Attributes
* Experience using CAM software (such as Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, or equivalent) * Familiarity with CAD models and the ability to interpret CAD-generated information * Previous experience with overhead crane operation or forklift use (not essential) * Full UK driving licence and access to own transport due to shift requirements and location
