CNC Operator
RHM Event Graphics - Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Advertised salary: up to £33,000 p/a (dependent on experience)
Start date: ASAP, ideally before the end of April 2026
The role
- Setting up and operating our Kongsburg and Gerber CNC routers to cut various substrates, ranging from foamex, dibond and acrylic to polystyrene, MDF and self-adhesive vinyls, carefully following cutting lists whilst prioritising multiple jobs in terms of importance and urgency
- Cutting and producing fret cut lettering, as well as mixing and matching paint to printed colours
- Constructing illuminated and backlit signage and lettering
- Bespoke build projects ranging from small scale, simple props to large set build items
- Assisting with manual labour, such as operating a chop saw to cut down lengths of materials, building/cladding timber framework and building freestanding aluminium frames
- Maintaining stock levels of materials, assessing what is needed for upcoming jobs and ordering in as required
- Checking off and packing jobs, ensuring they are appropriately packaged and accurately labelled
- Operating a forklift to receive and bring in deliveries of materials
As this role will involve communicating directly with other departments within RHM, good communication skills and fluency in English are paramount. Over time, you will be expected to develop an understanding and knowledge of the materials, substrates and processes we use. The nature of the business means that there will be times where we are working to short deadlines and at little notice, so we require a candidate who is able to be flexible and sometimes work beyond our usual office hours of 9am to 5:30pm.
About you
Our strong preference would be to find someone who has at least six months prior experience of working either in a dedicated CNC department or working with a CNC machine, ideally on an Konsgburg, Esko or Zund within a print environment. We will consider candidates who do not have this experience and full training will be offered regardless of experience, both at our supplier’s training facility and ongoing on-the-job training. It is important that you are enthusiastic and a quick learner, as well as someone who will be able to quickly adapt to our working processes and methods. In addition to this, you will be a stickler for detail, able to work with minimal supervision and be someone who can keep a cool head under pressure whilst prioritising projects with varying degrees of importance. Any interest in the print and/or events industry would also be beneficial.
As we are a close-knit company who take pride in having very little staff turnover, we put an extra emphasis on picking the right person for the role rather than simply choosing the strongest CV. We do therefore welcome applications from candidates whose background might not be from within the print industry, but who can demonstrate an appetite to carve out a career with us and who we feel would be a positive fit for the company.
About us
We have been supplying print and set build for all kinds of events worldwide for over 50 years. Previously based in Barnet, we moved to a significantly larger premises in Borehamwood in the middle of 2025 as part of our ongoing expansion. We count a number of significant names from within the events industry as our clients, and this means the projects we work on range in scale from straightforward vinyl prints and pull-up banners all the way through to delivering graphics for entire global events.
