CNC Grinder - New opportunity in this successful expanding sub contract precision engineering company. Working on new machines in a new purpose built area of the factory you will look after all programming, setting and operating of a Studer cylindrical grinder producing high precision parts.
We are seeking an experienced CNC Grinder who has the confidence and experience to run this new section. This role is ideal for a skilled grinder who takes pride in delivering high-quality, accurate work.
Key responsibilities - Set up, program (where applicable) and operate Studer CNC grinding machines - Grind components to fine limits and hold tight tolerances consistently - Interpret engineering drawings and work to specified dimensions and surface finish requirements - Perform in-process and final inspection using micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges and other precision measuring equipment - Monitor machine performance, perform basic maintenance and communicate any issues promptly - Maintain accurate production records, inspection reports and quality documentation - Work to established safety and quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Required skills and experience - Proven experience operating CNC grinding machines - Demonstrable ability to grind to fine limits and meet tight tolerance requirements - Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and measurement techniques - Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection procedures - Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment
Desirable - Formal engineering or machining qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ) - Experience with CNC programming for grinding machines - Knowledge of surface finish measurement and metallurgical considerations
