Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold the highest level of UK Security Clearance. This position will be working out of client sites near Chippenham and Reading.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team driving the future of defence technology. We're supporting the Ministry of Defence in the ambitious design and planning of a complex legacy system migration to a next-generation, client-owned cloud platform. You'll collaborate with two experienced cloud architects to deliver comprehensive design solutions and critical supporting artefacts that will shape the digital infrastructure of tomorrow.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
• Concept Design & Target State Definition Contribute to the development of high-level migration solutions (Concept Design), working closely with stakeholders to define the future-state architecture and agree on migration scope and strategy.
• High-Level Design (HLD) Creation Assist in producing comprehensive HLD documentation that captures key system components, integration points, data flows, and security architecture across both the legacy and future-state environments.
• Component-Level Low-Level Design (LLD) Development Create detailed LLDs covering configurations, cloud services (e.g., compute, storage, networking), identity/access controls, deployment patterns, and integration with legacy systems.
• Legacy System Analysis & Gap Assessment Evaluate the current system architecture, technology stack, data flows, and operational model to identify gaps, limitations, and cloud readiness. Provide insights that guide migration strategy and phasing.
• Migration Strategy & Roadmap Design Contribute to a phased, risk-aware migration plan that incorporates rollback procedures, ensures business continuity, and aligns stakeholders throughout the process.
• Technical Documentation Support Produce and maintain essential artefacts to support the wider project, including RAIDO logs, asset inventories, and service transition plans.
• Collaborative Cross-Functional Engagement Work in partnership with teams across security, testing, and operations to validate architecture decisions, maintain alignment with governance frameworks, and ensure secure, scalable migration paths.
