Job Title: Clinical Negligence Solicitor

I am currently working with a leading national law firm seeking to appoint a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join its highly regarded Health Litigation team in Leeds.

The Role

You will manage a caseload of defended clinical negligence claims, acting on behalf of healthcare bodies and medical defence clients. The work is varied, high quality and often complex.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Drafting reports
• Interviewing witnesses
• Preparing witness statements
• Instructing experts and Counsel
• Attending Case Management Conferences and Application Hearings
• Negotiating settlements
• Holding conferences with Counsel
• Preparing for and attending trials and mediations

In addition, you will:

\n
• Support secondments to key healthcare clients
• Assist colleagues with higher-value claims
• Deliver client training and presentations
• Draft articles and contribute to client communications
• Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
• Contribute to business development initiatives
• Supervise junior colleagues and support team development

About You

To be considered for this role, you will:

• Be a Qualified Solicitor (SRA or CILEx routes considered)
• Ideally have experience within a clinical negligence defence environment (experience with healthcare panel clients or medical defence organisations advantageous but not essential)
• Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Understand and adhere to client protocols and KPIs
• Take a proactive, pragmatic and quality-focused approach
• Have excellent organisational, communication and drafting skills
• Show strong attention to detail and awareness of client data security requirements
• Demonstrate evidence of meeting time recording and contribution targets
