Job Responsibilities
General
· To support in Managing the day-to-day running of the services and coordinating its operations
· To manage and ensure the smooth running of the service in the absence of the registered manager
· Train, supervise, appraise, line manage and retain all nursing and support staff for the service
· Coordinate support worker rota with Team Leaders
· Ensure clinical/Nursing rota cover remains compliant and in accordance with the service specification
· Regular checks to ensure all named nurses keep their key service users’ folders up to date and review as agreed
· To carry out induction for new nurses and to complete their competency
· To adhere to the care standard and professional conduct as laid down by the NMC
· To be conversant with the Mental Health Act 1983 and awareness of Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
· To be conversant with the main provisions of the Health and Safety at Work and the COSHH Regulations and to ensure that all staff adhere to the policies and procedures accordingly
· Alongside the Operations co-ordinator, regular health and safety walk to ensure the environment is suitable for all our service users
· Ensure CQC requirements are always upheld
· Monitor the day-to-day clinical care of all service users in the service
· Effectively coordinate service users’ reviews as clinically indicated
· To ensure medication is administered as prescribed and that it is reviewed at appropriate intervals by medical staff
· Facilitate and coordinate treatment plans using the care programme approach and good clinical practice within the MDT setting, ensuring effective use of resources and the updating of plans within agreed time limits
· Carry out regular medication audit at the service
· Alongside the Registered Manager, the Senior Clinical lead is responsible for coordinating the `smooth flow of care from admission
Core Requirements
· Experience in the following Mental health settings – Rehab, Low secure or Forensic
· Experience working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
· Experience with CPA process, PBS and My Shared Pathway (MSP)
· Understanding of the Mental Health act (1983) and other relevant legislation applicable to Mental health
· Understanding of Rehabilitation and Recovery service delivery pathways is desirable
· Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care using evidence based approaches
· Ability to supervise, teach and mentor Qualified and Unqualified Staff
· Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
· Knowledge of NMC code of conduct
· Knowledge of current developments in mental health Nursing in particular to Rehabilitation and Recovery services
