Overview
NHS Supply Chain is looking for a clinically qualified professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner, or other registered clinical role) to join our In‑Hospital Services team during an exciting period of transformation. You will support NHS trusts in strengthening patient safety and high‑quality care by embedding the Inventory Management System (IMS) and point‑of‑care barcode scanning across operating theatres and interventional specialties such as Cardiology and Radiology.
Responsibilities
Work independently and collaborate with hospital clinical areas to introduce, embed, and support the use of the Inventory Management System (IMS) and point‑of‑care barcode scanning in their clinical practice.
Engage clinical teams by explaining why the new system matters, showing how it supports safer care and smoother workflows, and helping staff feel confident about what is changing and when.
Deliver hands‑on training and support clinical areas during go‑live to build staff confidence with IMS point‑of‑care tools and help teams settle into the new way of working safely and smoothly.
Guide trust teams to understand, access, and use their own data for safety, quality, and continuous improvement, highlighting key information and encouraging simple, practical reporting rhythms that sustain benefits.
Build strong, positive relationships with clinical sponsors and local champions, acting as a trusted and approachable point of contact who supports teams to embed safer and more reliable ways of working.
Qualifications
Clinically qualified professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner, or other registered clinical role).
Experience in operating theatres or interventional environments, especially implant‑led specialties such as Orthopaedics and Trauma; Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience also highly relevant.
Strong clinical understanding and confidence working in busy hospital environments, particularly theatres or interventional areas.
Experience working with implantable medical devices, high‑risk products, or point‑of‑care documentation in theatres or interventional settings.
Clear and supportive communication skills, enabling you to explain new systems and processes to clinicians at all levels.
Confidence delivering training and supporting others to learn, especially when introducing new technology or ways of working.
An organised and methodical approach, guiding teams through change and using simple data effectively.
A collaborative and relationship‑focused mindset, building trust with clinical sponsors, champions, and frontline staff.
Able to work autonomously, using sound clinical judgment to manage day‑to‑day issues and knowing when to seek support.
Benefits
Field‑based home‑worker role with hybrid work opportunities.
Annual bonus schemes, long‑service and colleague recognition awards.
In‑house training and external qualification support.
Well‑being: 1 day paid wellbeing leave and free access to the 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
Generous pension scheme (our contribution 12 % when you contribute 6 %).
Flexible Benefits Scheme: choice of life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, health cash plan, dental insurance, and additional pension contributions.
2 days paid volunteering leave.
Discounts from the Blue Light Card and NHS discounts.
NMC fee covered.
