Classroom Support Assistant (CSA) - Centre for Autism Camden Monday-Friday | 8:30am-4:00pm | Full-Time £100 per day (PAYE) Academic Year A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Classroom Support Assistant (CSA) to join a specialist Centre for Autism in Camden for the full academic year. The Centre provides 30 places for children aged 4-11 with Autism. Each class is staffed by one teacher and three to four experienced Child Support Assistants, maintaining an excellent 1:2 adult-to-student ratio to ensure high-quality, personalised support. About the Provision The Centre adopts a strong therapeutic approach, with teachers working closely alongside: Speech and Language Therapists Occupational Therapists A Music Therapist Behaviour - including behaviour that challenges - is viewed as a form of communication. Staff use a calm, empathetic low-arousal approach, focusing on: Short-term de-escalation and emotional regulation Long-term understanding of dysregulation triggers Teaching pupils more effective ways to communicate and meet their needs All CSAs are expected to fully embrace and consistently apply this approach. The Role This is an active and hands-on role. Much of the day will be spent on your feet, engaging pupils in play-based and therapeutic learning activities. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with children and is happy to "meet them where they are at." Responsibilities include: Supporting pupils with Autism in a structured classroom setting Engaging in play-based learning and therapeutic activities Supporting emotional regulation using a low-arousal approach Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Supporting with personal care (including toileting and nappy changing where required) Attending weekly swimming sessions and entering the pool to support pupils (shallow pool - all staff can comfortably stand) The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with children or young people Ideally, experience supporting those with additional needs A calm, patient xehkeey and empathetic approach A sense of fun and willingness to actively participate in games and activities A strong team ethos and willingness to learn What's On Offer: £100 per day (PAYE) Full-time, stable role for the academic year Excellent staff-to-student ratios Access to evidence-based practices and therapies Ongoing CPD opportunities A supportive, collaborative and genuinely rewarding working environment This is an ideal role for someone considering a career in SEND, education, therapy, or child development - or for experienced practitioners looking to further develop their expertise in a specialist Autism setting.
