About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Portsmouth. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to pupils aged 8–16 with a range of Special Educational Needs, including SEMH. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, create a nurturing learning environment, and ensure every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH.
* Create and maintain positive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
* Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff and external professionals.
* Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, using assessments to inform future planning.
* Work effectively with teaching assistants and other staff to support learning across individual, small group, and whole-class settings.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing and safeguarding.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience teaching pupils with SEN/SEMH needs.
* A strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and behaviour management.
* The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children and adults.
* A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
