We are seeking a reliable and experienced Skip Driver to join our team in Widdington (CB11 3SL) The successful candidate will be responsible for operating skip lorries efficiently and safely, ensuring timely collection and delivery of waste containers across various locations. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate urban and rural routes effectively. The ideal applicant will possess relevant driving experience, mechanical knowledge, and familiarity with warehouse operations. *Responsibilities*
* Operate skip lorries in accordance with all safety regulations and traffic laws.
* Collect and deliver skips to designated sites, ensuring timely service.
* Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance.
* Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding schedules and any issues encountered during routes.
* Assist with loading or unloading skips when necessary, utilising appropriate equipment such as flatbeds.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle inspections.
* Ensure all waste is handled in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
* Adhere to health and safety procedures at all times during operations.
*Experience*
* Proven experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver, preferably within waste management or logistics sectors.
* Familiarity with driving flatbed vehicles or similar large vehicles such as lorries or trucks.
* Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is advantageous.
* Previous warehouse experience is beneficial for understanding logistics workflows.
* Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
* Valid driver’s licence is essential.
