Job Description

Civil Design Engineer – Water\n Location: Manchester\n\nA leading engineering design consultancy is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join a friendly and technically strong civil design team. The role offers exposure to a variety of water-sector projects, including clean water, wastewater, and infrastructure schemes, with occasional site visits and a supportive hybrid working model.\n\nAbout the Role\n The Civil Design Engineer will produce high-quality civil engineering design deliverables for water-sector assets, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance across all assigned design packages. Work will span outline and detailed design, providing strong technical exposure within a multidisciplinary environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProduce civil design calculations, drawings, and deliverables.\n\nProvide outputs that meet all safety and quality requirements.\n\nDirect and support CAD technicians.\n\nPrepare design risk assessments, reports, and specifications.\n\nEnsure compliance with professional and water company standards.\n\nImplement and record design changes as required.\n\nFollow formal processes and procedures.\n\nAssist with estimating design hours.\n\nAttend and contribute to meetings and design reviews.\n\nRequired Qualifications & Experience\n\nMinimum 5 years’ design experience in the regulated water industry.\n\nExperience producing hydraulic calculations and profiles.\n\nGraduate, HND, or equivalent experience from Technician level.\n\nGood IT proficiency.\n\nRegistered with a professional body and working toward chartership.\n\nStrong organisation and communication skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications & Experience\n\nChartered Engineer.\n\nExperience across clean and wastewater schemes.\n\nExperience with infrastructure and non-infrastructure designs.\n\nKnowledge of construction methods and materials.\n\nUnderstanding of engineering drawing practices.\n\nFull driving licence and vehicle access.\n\nKey Skills\n\nCommunication, problem solving, results focus, technical capability, and ability to develop self and others
