Civil Engineer - Highways, Drainage & Development Infrastructure\n\nLocation: Birmingham (Hybrid Working Available)\nSalary: £30,000 - £45,000 + Benefits\nType: Full-Time | Permanent\n\nCivil Engineer - Birmingham\n\nAre you a Civil Engineer with experience in highways, drainage or development infrastructure design looking to take the next step in your career?\n\nAn established and highly regarded development infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer into its growing Birmingham office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a background in infrastructure design to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team working on a wide range of residential, commercial and public sector projects across the UK.\n\nThis role would suit someone who enjoys technical design work, wants exposure to varied development schemes, and is looking to continue building their experience in a supportive environment with strong progression opportunities.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nYou'll be joining a people-focused consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable development infrastructure solutions.\n\nWorking as part of an experienced and supportive team, you'll be involved in the design and coordination of highways, drainage and earthworks packages across a broad range of development projects, gaining exposure to schemes from early concept through to detailed design and approvals.\n\nProjects are varied and can include:\n\nResidential developments and housing schemes\nCommercial and mixed-use developments\nRetail and logistics projects\nEducation facilities\nPublic realm and regeneration schemes\nUtility and infrastructure upgrades\nMajor public sector developmentsThis is a great opportunity for someone looking to strengthen their technical capability, broaden their project exposure, and progress within a well-established consultancy.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Civil Engineer, you'll support the design and delivery of development infrastructure projects across a range of sectors.\n\nResponsibilities will include:\n\nAssisting with the design and delivery of highways and drainage infrastructure for development schemes\nProducing highway designs (S38 / S278) at preliminary and detailed design stages\nSupporting the delivery of drainage designs (S104 / S98) including: \nSurface water drainage\nFoul drainage\nSuDS design\nFlow control and attenuation / balancing solutions\nFoul pumping stations\nAssisting with earthworks and site level design\nWorking closely with planners, architects, external consultants, and approving authorities\nSupporting project delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and approvals\nProducing technical drawings, calculations, and design documentation\nCollaborating with senior engineers and technicians to ensure high-quality project delivery\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nTo be considered, you should have:\n\nExperience in civil infrastructure design, ideally within highways and/or drainage\nA background working on UK development infrastructure projects\nGood working knowledge of relevant design standards and approval processes\nExperience using software such as: \nCivil 3D\nMicroDrainage / InfoDrainage\nCauseway Flow\nPDS\nExperience contributing to designs for residential, commercial or mixed-use developments\nA BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience)\nStrong communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop within a team environment\n\nWhat's On Offer\n\nSalary of £30,000 - £45,000 depending on experience\nHybrid working and flexibility\nCompetitive benefits package\nRegular salary reviews\nGenerous annual leave\nClear career progression pathway\nStructured Chartership support\nA friendly, collaborative and modern working environment\nThe opportunity to work on interesting and technically varied development projects\n\nWhy Apply?\n\nThis is a brilliant opportunity for a Civil Engineer looking to join a respected consultancy where they can continue to develop their technical skills, work on high-quality projects, and progress their career within a supportive team.\n\nIf you're looking for a role that offers varied project exposure, strong mentorship, and long-term development, apply direct or contact Michael from Aldwych Consulting on (phone number removed)\n\nAldwych Consulting values and promotes equality.
