Duties and Responsibilities:1. Provide Effective Leadership 1.1 Represents the Company to relevant outside bodies, organisations, institutions and individuals. Ensures that the Company and in particular the services it provides, is well recognised, particularly within the local community, and those who have, or may have a Stakeholder interest, etc.1.2 Develops effective relationships with the key stakeholders in the business, Young People, their family and friends, neighbours, the wider community, other professional and other Private and Voluntary sector agencies.1.3 To provide out of hours support and guidance for the service, as required1.4 to be part of the on-call out of hours rota2. Manage the Services Provided2.1 Researches the position and attitude of all relevant groups in relation to the Home, the services it provides and the staff that provide the services. Uses the results of this research to continuously improve the standard of service provided through feedback to staff members and key stakeholders.2.3 Ensures that the home has enough literature to meet day to day requirements, and that the Homes Statement of Purpose, Childrens Guide, etc are accurate, up-to-date, regularly reviewed and distributed effectively.2.4 In collaboration and conjunction with others, manages the activities and services provided by the home. Ensures that services are provided to Young People at the agreed time and to the relevant specification and quality, and consistent with individual assessments which have been undertaken, personal care plans drawn up, etc, and that these are regularly reviewed.2.5 Co-ordinates the identification, frequent review and management of the Homes structures, key processes, records and systems in line with changes in care practice and recommended national standards, needs of Regulatory Authorities, improvements in operational efficiency, changing legislation etc. Ensures that any changes are appropriately recorded, communicated and implemented in line with the needs of each young person and relevant stakeholders. 2.6 Ensures that all activities and services are delivered in a manner, and in an environment, which is sympathetic and conducive to the provision of safe systems of work, and not likely to endanger the health and safety or welfare of anyone who provides or receives such services.2.7 Defines values and policies which consider the requirements, expectations, policies and interests of the home. Ensures that key operational policies (e.g. Behaviour Management, Risk Assessments, Care Plans, Complaints Procedure etc.) are written, maintained, and available to employees and Young People as appropriate.2.8 Formulates strategies, measurable objectives and detailed action plans which are designed to meet the needs of the Young People in the home and as required, other related Services. Ensures support for strategies, objectives and plans through consultation and negotiation with our partner agencies.2.9 Regularly and frequently seek and evidences the views of individual Young People , their parents (where appropriate) and the contact person in their placing authority on the content and implementation of the placement plan and takes these into account in initiating and making changes to the plan.3. Managing Resources3.1 To assist the Company in achieving effective and efficient management of all resources. 3.2 Monitors and controls the use of resources, promoting efficient data collection, reporting and analysis.3.3 Manage the deployment of staff on rota ensuring adequate and appropriate support is maintained including deployment of staff to cover annual leave, sickness and training. 3.4 Assisting in the accounting of the Homes budget - to include young peoples personal allowances 3.5 Maintain occupancy levels in the home with carful and robust matching.4. Managing People 4.1 Accepts responsibility for developing own knowledge and skills, and for promoting the concept of lifelong learning for both Young People and staff. At appropriate intervals, makes assessments of performance, progress etc identifying development proposals in line with current objectives.4.2 Prioritise workloads for staff, setting and agreeing SMART objectives as appropriate. Monitor staff performance through observation and regular assessments of progress, ensuring that any significant delays are dealt with satisfactorily.4.3 Gains the support, trust and confidence of own colleagues by providing adequate communication, consultation and involvement in key areas of activity and decision making. Minimises personal conflicts by ensuring that values, standards of behaviour and performance are understood and observed, and that problem areas are discussed and dealt with.4.4 Involved in the process of recruitment, induction and probationary reviews. 4.5 Delegates responsibility and authority to team members, considering equality of opportunity, ability of the individuals concerned and their development needs. Review such delegation at appropriate intervals to ensure effectiveness. 4.6 Assists team members with performance, providing guidance and encouragement as necessary, taking appropriate and corrective action as determined by the circumstances.Manage Quality5.1 Promotes the ideals of continuous improvement within the Home.5.2 Establishes quality team(s) and makes regular assessments of performance. Prepares action plans for improvement.5.3 Promotes the development and implementation of efficient, accurate and appropriate quality assurance, monitoring and control measures and practices, in relation to all services provided at the Home. ANNUAL LEAVE 28 days holiday plus bank holidaysHOURS OF WORK The Registered Homes Manager will work Monday to Friday as standard but will also be required to be flexible in response to the needs of the service. Some weekends or sleep in duties may be required.PROBATIONARY PERIOD All appointments are subject to a 6 months probationary period, at this time progress will be reviewed.PETROL ALLOWANCE per mile when using own car - must have business insurance cover.
