Child Support Worker – Specialist SEND Education Setting
Milk Education | Tottenham (On-site)

Milk Education is recruiting for a specialist SEND setting in the Tottenham area that supports children with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), learning difficulties, sensory processing differences, communication barriers, and social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

We’re looking for a Child Support Worker who’s calm, compassionate, emotionally sturdy, and confident supporting pupils who rely on structure, consistency, and highly personalised care. This role starts on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with the option to move into long-term or permanent work for the right person.

What the Role Involves

This is a very hands-on role working closely with children who need predictable routines and strong, trusted adults. You’ll collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, and therapists to deliver trauma-informed, autism-friendly support across the school day.

You’ll be helping pupils manage communication barriers, regulate emotions, meet sensory needs, and build vital social and life skills within a warm, structured, and relationship-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN

Using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, visuals, and modelling

Supporting emotional regulation with personalised strategies and sensory approaches

Managing challenging behaviour using a calm, non-confrontational, trauma-informed style

Assisting with personal care, mobility, or feeding support when required

Supporting structured play, social interaction, and life-skills activities

Working with teachers and therapists to follow tailored plans and interventions

Maintaining routine, reassurance, and clear boundaries

Ensuring pupils are safe, supported, and supervised throughout the day

Upholding safeguarding and strong professional standards

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely wants to make a real difference for children who rely on stable, caring adults around them.
