Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO)
A pivotal role establishing the risk and compliance framework for the next phase of Northern LGPS’s development.
About Northern LGPS
Northern LGPS is a c£70bn pooled investment partnership for the Local Government Pension Scheme, bringing together the investments of Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Merseyside Pension Fund and West Yorkshire Pension Fund.
Building on the foundations of its collaboration over several years, Northern LGPS is now entering the next phase of its development. This phase focuses on establishing an FCA authorised investment management company with a dedicated senior leadership team; strengthening governance and creating a clear operating model to support long-term investment outcomes.
For those joining at this stage, the opportunity is exceptional. These roles offer the chance to shape strategy, set standards and build leadership capability for the long term, working closely with the partner funds, who are both shareholders and clients, Boards and regulators to ensure Northern LGPS continues to evolve as a well-governed, resilient investment organisation.
The role
Design and implement the overall risk and compliance framework for Northern LGPS
Ensure regulatory expectations are met as the organisation establishes and evolves its FCA authorised investment management company
Provide independent risk and compliance advice to the CEO and Board
Build and lead the risk and compliance functions
Embed a strong culture of risk awareness, resilience and accountability across the organisation
Work closely with investment and operational teams to ensure proportionate and effective control frameworks
Carry out the SMF4 and SMF 16 role for a c£70bn AIFM with MiFID permissions
About you
Given the importance of establishing the control framework early in the organisation’s development, we are particularly interested in candidates who are able to start immediately or at short notice. Applications are welcomed on either a permanent or contract basis.
Senior professional with significant experience in risk, compliance or ideally both within asset management, pensions or regulated financial services
Strong understanding of investment, operational and regulatory risk
Experience of engaging with regulators and operating within FCA regulated environments
Ability to design and build frameworks in a new organisation
Pragmatic, proportionate approach to risk and governance
How to apply
To apply, please submit your application via LinkedIn.
