About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Chef to join the catering teamin North London. The successful candidate will work within a busy on-site restaurant, serving staff, patients, and visitors , delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced, professional environment. This is a key role within a kitchen that produces over 400 covers daily , including a wide range of hot meals and a daily salad bar with 30+ freshly prepared items. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of meals including meat, vegetarian, and vegan dishes.
Supervise a team of 1 commis chef and 7 catering staff.
Ensure high standards of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management in line with Natashas Law and NHS food standards.
Support daily production of the salad bar and snack service.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas.
Contribute to menu development and service planning where appropriate.
Adapt quickly to the needs of a high-volume service environment, particularly during peak times (11:3014:30).
Essential Requirements City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or an equivalent recognised qualification in professional cookery.
Proven experience in high-volume catering such as hospitals, schools, staff restaurants, or industrial kitchens.
Strong working knowledge of food allergens , hygiene regulations, and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of service delivery, as well as collaborate with a wider team.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Reliable, punctual, and flexible in approach.
Desirable Experience working within a NHS or healthcare setting .
Familiarity with large-scale cold preparation and salad production.
Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certificate (valid and up-to-date).
