Chef Tutor
Location: Minehead, Somerset
Salary: £29,578.40 £35,129.55 (FTE £31,970 £37,253), depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Term time plus additional days and training (42 weeks per year) A specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities is seeking a passionate and skilled Chef Tutor to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to use your culinary expertise to inspire young adults, helping them develop essential life and hospitality skills that prepare them for independence and meaningful employment. Youll deliver high?quality, engaging Food Preparation sessions while also modelling professional kitchen standards through hands?on cooking and meal preparation.
What Youll Do
  • Plan, prepare and deliver highly individualised Food Preparation sessions aligned with the published scheme of work.
  • Deliver inspiring, engaging lessons that challenge, motivate and support every learner.
  • Carry out assessments, maintain accurate tracking, set targets and review progress.
  • Use RARPA principles to recognise and record meaningful progress.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including Therapy teams and House Managers, to ensure students achieve in line with their abilities.
  • Respond quickly to underachievement and adjust targets where students exceed expectations.
  • Lead and direct Learning Support Practitioners within your sessions.
  • Prepare, cook and present high?quality meals following standardised recipes and menu specifications.
  • Model industry?standard techniques and maintain consistently high food quality.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, food safety and health & safety legislation.
Qualifications
  • Level 2 English & Maths
  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) Level 2 in Hospitality and Catering
  • Level 3 qualification (desirable or willingness to work towards)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Education (desirable or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience working in a hospitality or catering environment
  • Experience in vocational education (desirable)
  • A collaborative, team?focused approach
