Senior CE&I Design Engineer Location: Cumbria Hours: 37 hours per week Security Clearance: SC required Overview We are recruiting for a Senior CE&I Design Engineer to support a major regulated infrastructure programme. This role sits within a multi‑disciplinary design team, providing front‑line, site‑based design support to commissioning activities. You will be responsible for delivering and checking detailed CE&I design changes, ensuring alignment with functional and business requirements. This is a design‑focused role – implementation and commissioning activities are carried out by separate site teams. Key Responsibilities
Provide site‑based design support to commissioning teams Produce and check detailed CE&I designs and design changes Support the delivery of design outputs across the wider team Ensure designs meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements Interface with multi‑disciplinary teams to resolve design challenges Apply knowledge of control systems and instrumentation standards Contribute to problem solving and technical decision making Support and mentor early career engineers
Essential Requirements
Academic Qualification: Minimum HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline Professional Status: Incorporated Engineer (or working towards) Security Clearance: Ability to obtain/hold SC clearance Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CE&I Design Engineer Experience working on multi‑disciplinary engineering projects Proven experience providing front‑line design support to commissioning teams Experience delivering and checking detailed design changes
Working knowledge of relevant standards for:
PES‑based control systems Process instrumentation
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Desirable Experience
7+ years’ experience in a similar role Experience working within highly regulated environments Familiarity with client‑specific engineering standards Experience supporting both internal and external project delivery teams
