Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
The Procurement function is undergoing an exciting transformation journey, deploying best in class processes, ensuring an innovative, reliable and cost-efficient supply chain that can grow with M Group to support delivery of our strategy.

What will you be doing?
This role leads the development, implementation, and day‑to‑day management of the category strategy.
You’ll take ownership of full category governance, including managing the pipeline, securing sourcing approvals, and ensuring policy compliance.
A key part of the role is delivering strategic sourcing activity to drive value from suppliers and subcontractors.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and keep category plans aligned.
Market insights and data analysis will help you spot risks, opportunities, and shifts that influence sourcing strategy.
You’ll identify and assess vendors, negotiating strong contracts that secure the best prices, terms, and conditions.
What you’ll bring
- 5-7 years’ experience in procurement
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful category strategies & sourcing practices
- Ability to build relationships, influence and act as an expert across the organisation up to executive level
- Strong leadership skills and prior experience of leading cross-functional or virtual teams
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, able to obtain consensus around credible, executable solutions
- Confidence using data, digital tools and procurement systems to drive insight, reporting and decision-making
