My Client is a market leading international sourcing and supply partner, working with major retailers across the UK and Europe. The business specialises in developing and delivering high-quality, commercially competitive product ranges across multiple categories, with a strong focus on home, lifestyle, and seasonal goods.

With a global supplier network and deep expertise in product development, logistics, and retail partnerships, the company plays a key role in helping retailers bring trend-led, value-driven products to market efficiently and at scale.

We are looking for an experienced Category Buyer to take ownership of the Gardening category, driving product strategy, supplier sourcing, and commercial performance. This role will play a key part in developing compelling product ranges for major retail customers, with a strong focus on seasonal planning and margin delivery.


Duties

  • Develop and manage the gardening product range, including outdoor furniture, sheds, tools, and accessories
  • Source and onboard new suppliers globally, ensuring quality, compliance, and cost efficiency
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to deliver strong commercial margins
  • Build and present product proposals in response to retailer briefs and tenders
  • Analyse sales data, market trends, and customer demand to inform range decisions
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and stock availability
  • Manage seasonal planning cycles, ensuring ranges are aligned to peak trading periods
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to keep the category competitive and relevant
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams including sales, logistics, and product development


Skills

  • Proven experience in a Buying or Category Management role, ideally within home, garden, or DIY categories
  • Strong supplier sourcing and negotiation experience, ideally with international suppliers
  • Commercially astute with a solid understanding of margin, pricing, and cost structures
  • Experience working with or supplying to major retailers (e.g. grocery, discount, or general merchandise)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends
  • Experience managing seasonal product ranges and long lead-time supply chains
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
