Job Title: Caretaker / Security Officer (with Cash Handling Duties) Location: Bank Parade, Newry, Newry, Mourne and Down, BT34 1DQ, United Kingdom Rate of Pay: £13.63 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week (rotating shifts, including evenings) Driving Required: Yes includes van driving duties Job Overview We're hiring a dependable and flexible Caretaker/Security Officer to support the day-to-day operations of council facilities. You'll help with cleaning, security, maintenance, and event support, while ensuring a friendly and professional service to the public. Key Responsibilities Clean buildings inside and out, including steps and pathways
Open, close, and secure venues (keyholding & alarm callouts)
Operate heating, lighting, and sound systems
Set up rooms for events and monitor audiences
Supervise reception during peak times or staff absence
Manage security and stewarding during events
Support or lead evacuation procedures and conduct fire tests
Liaise with public and event organisers on-site
Perform van driving and equipment delivery duties
Operate hoists and use safety harness systems (training provided)
