About the Role: The service manager plays a critical role in leading and coordinating the daily operations of our home care services across Scotland. Reporting to the Head of Care and Business Development, this role is responsible for managing the wider operations team, ensuring consistent service delivery, operational compliance, and contributing to the growth of services at a team level.

The postholder will focus on embedding high-quality, person-centred care, supporting the achievement of organisational goals, and fostering continuous improvement across operational teams. They will work closely with the Head of Department to translate strategic priorities into team-level actions and performance outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and support the team to ensure consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance and workforce management across service areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate standards, Health and Social Care Standards, and relevant legislation.
  • Implement performance monitoring systems, audits, and feedback loops to maintain and enhance service quality.


Service Delivery & Improvement

  • Work with the Head of Department to implement service development plans and respond to identified areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Compliance) to ensure operational needs are met.


Growth & Partnership Support

  • Support the execution of business development activities at the team level, including mobilisation of new contracts or services.
  • Contribute to tender preparation, mobilisation plans, and integration of new services.

Identify local opportunities for service innovation and community partnerships.


Skills Required:

  • Substantial operational leadership experience in the health or social care sector, ideally in domiciliary/home care.
  • Strong understanding of care service delivery within Scottish regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage regional or multi-site care operations and drive team performance.
  • Experience in managing KPIs, audits, budgets, and workforce planning.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong commitment to person-centred and rights-based care delivery.
  • A relevant care or management qualification is preferred (e.g., SVQ 4/5, RMA, Registered Manager Award)
