Chef / Cook – Care Homes (Split Site Role)

⏰ Typically 7:00am – 3:00pm (No Late Nights)
MCG Recruitment are delighted to be working with a highly regarded care home provider to recruit a passionate and dedicated Chef / Cook to support two welcoming care homes located just one mile apart .
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a chef who enjoys variety in their role — splitting time between two very different homes, each with its own personality, team, and residents.

About the Role As a Chef, you will play a vital role in residents' daily lives by delivering fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals that are tailored to individual needs and preferences.

Food is a huge part of life in these homes — from home-baked cakes and biscuits to thoughtfully prepared meals that bring comfort, enjoyment, and routine to residents. This is your chance to cook with purpose, where the “little things” truly make a difference.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider care teams to ensure every resident enjoys a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities Prepare and deliver wholesome, nutritious meals using fresh ingredients
Follow a 4-week rotating menu , adapting where needed
Cater for a range of dietary requirements including: IDDSI (modified texture diets)
Diabetes and fortified meals
Cultural and religious preferences

Bake fresh cakes and desserts daily wherever possible
Maintain accurate temperature records, cleaning schedules, and food safety compliance
Manage stock, ordering, and minimise waste
Supervise and support kitchen assistants
Ensure both kitchens are kept clean, safe, and organised at all times
About You We are looking for someone who:
Has experience as a Chef/Cook (care sector experience desirable but not essential)
Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above)
Understands Safer Food Better Business and food safety standards
Has experience catering for varied dietary needs
Has a genuine passion for cooking fresh, high-quality food
Shows empathy and understanding towards elderly residents
Is organised, adaptable, and happy working across two sites
Wants to grow and develop within a rewarding environment

Alternate weekends only
